Cordoba, Spain

The first photos are from the Good Friday celebrations for Semana Santa in Cordoba. Unfortunately, there was a lot of rain this year and most of the celebrations were cancelled. That day, they did do a shortened procession as the citizens were so anxious for something to happen. It was great--much different from Granada(not that it wasn't fabulous in Granada--just much more rambunctious there). Here, people were silent and it made for an eery kind of scene with the incense and the black hooded penitent. Attending these ceremonies was, for me, the highlight of our trip. The middle picture is an example of inside The Mezquita where Muslim culture truly collided with Christianity in a way that it only can in Spain. The last three photos were from a procession where they transported a crucifiction cross from church to church accompanied by these macho soldiers. It was an incredible event. This cross spends 12 hours inside each church before moving on to the next one in celebration of holy week. Thanks for looking.

Wow what an awesome thing to get to photograph, the black hooded guys creep me out but the rest is soooo cool. Looked at your other shots from your trip too ~ amazing. I'll bet you constantly had your camera in front of your face the whole trip.

What a great time to caputre in photographs! What are you doing with all your Espana pics anyway? Would make a nice album since we're talking about scrapbooking this week. I like how your photos are telling me a story, very photojournalistic. I think a few would look good in a moody BnW too, just to emphasize that storytelling quality to them.

How cool! I adore Spain. The semana santa procession is definately something to witness. I am partial to your last post though =)I studied a semester in Granada in college. It's an amazing city. I could see the Alhambra from my apt's kitchen window. DH & I went back 2 years ago & it's where he proposed.
