What Photographers Do For Fun

No, we don't all wear kilts and play in a pipe band. If I did that, my mother would cry, cry, cry. My mother cries whenever she hears bagpipes. It's kind of a party trick(just kidding mom). To explain, she is a full blooded Scot. And, those Scots take their piping pretty darn seriously. When I told her that we went to Canmore for the day to take in the Highland games, she started reminiscing about being a girl and seeing her dad throw the caber before he drank too much Scotch and started to sing the songs of his youth. Well, we had a distinctly Canadian highland games...which means there was more beer than Scotch. Shame. I had to toss up a few kilt photos for my dear old mom.

I am currently in possession of a new lens. This is, sort of, what we photographers do for fun, but you'll truly see the results at the end of this post. This is my favorite 'serious' shot with that lens from the day. Love the sky, love the white tents...thanks Dad for loaning it to me for awhile. I'll try not to get too attached.
Jack spent a good part of the afternoon revelling in his newfound ability to do the zipline at the park. I think he did it for over an hour straight. He's pretty darn good at it now. And, he has a huge bump and bruise on his arm to show for it!

Georgia enjoys the swing. She can swing and swing and swing. And, when she can't swing anymore, she enjoys the sweets. Those she can eat and eat and eat....

This is Bob's face telling me to put down the camera, gather up the kids and head to the beer tent already!!!

Now, back to the original point of my story...how we photographers have fun. Well...we take distorted pictures with our wide angle lenses of course...how fun are these?

Bob is constantly saying how much he enjoys this hobby of mine. After he sees this post, he might just change his mind! Happy Labour Day everyone!
