Calgary Folk Fest

I like photography. My kids...not so much. This is Jack's Sean Penn impression. I guess he's had enough of me shoving my camera in his face. I keep telling myself that one day he'll appreciate it, but I'm starting to wonder if that day will ever come!

We went to the folk fest here in Calgary last weekend and enjoyed good music, good friends, and good fun. It is one of my favorite summer time things to do. Bob and I have gone every year since we've lived here...so that's going on 10 years. Some years, we've only gone on one or two days, but we always buy a four day pass and cross our fingers that no one gets married that weekend ;) I've been lucky enough to see some of my favorite musical loves there and discover new ones. This year I was extra lucky because my new favorite musical love was there--Brett Dennen. He is the only performer whose photo was lucky enough to grace my blog. I love him--L-O-V-E love him. I'm going to have to change the song on my blog to suit....

These are just a few of my favorite shots from the weekend. I'm sorry not everyone is represented, but then there would be like 30 shots. I should say that Bob took the one of the lanterns, but I processed it ;) The lanterns are the most magical part of the festival and come out every night once it gets dark. The photo doesn't do them justice...

These are all of our shoes sitting beside our tarp. A common folk fest scene.

Dancing Queen!

My view of the stage often looks like this...my hubby...

Jessie brought bubbles and what photographer can resist bubble shots?

And, of course, Brett Dennen...thanks for looking!
