First Birthdays

For Korean families, first birthdays are a huge celebration. A table is laid with food, money, a pen and paper, food...did I mention food? At least at this celebration, there was a lot of food. Then they dress the one year old in a traditional outfit and stand them in front of the table. The first thing they pick up is supposed to tell of their future. This little guy picked up a pen--tried to eat it and then quickly put it down so he could pick up a treat. Hmmm...he might be an intellectual or he might be a chef. Maybe he'll be a food critic ;) I love sharing in other culture's traditions so I had to share some of my favorite photos from the event.
