Free Falling

I found out today that my beloved 30D needs to be serviced. For those who are technically challenged...that means my camera. So, I am currently in possession of a rented 5D(better than a 30D--if you're going to rent, rent big!)...I had to take it for a test run before a shoot tomorrow, so I took my kids for a walk. Hmmm...this walk could be expensive as I loved this camera. I just wanted to share the first shots I took with a 5D. Truthfully, I was a little bit sad to realize that my baby was sick and blogging makes me happy. Is there something wrong with me because I said that? So, here are my other babies...

Thanks for looking...I feel better already!

Cotton Candy

Yes, I know...I know...my kids had their first taste of cotton candy last weekend on a trip to Calaway Park. Shortly, we learned the cardinal rule for eating cotton candy...keep your fingers dry...thought I'd share...thanks for looking! Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Birthday to Liz!

There was another mom in the house with us...and, it was her birthday while we were on the island. I felt bad...because we were 'on turtle time' I never had time to get her a card...so here is my belated version...this is her little guy, Pirate Andrew, telling me to walk the plank...Jack keeps talking about him. Too bad they live so far away....

I think that perhaps he liked cliff diving even more than Jack....

I love this midair shot with his hand in the air like he's proclaiming "I'm #1"...

Thanks for playing with Jack...he's gonna miss you...

Bald Head Island Continued

Ok...so my internet access has been limited this past week. This morning the problem seems to have worked itself out. So, I am posting a tonne of posts that were ready to go last week, but I just didn't have the patience to sit through dial up speeds. These are my favorite shots of my favorite people from our trip. Well, at least the ones that I currently have. You see...Bob left one of my compact flash cards at the house and I am awaiting its arrival, but for now, these are my favorites. They are mostly on the beach in front of the house. Lucky us...seems like ages ago already with the cold mornings we are currently having.

Jack spent a lot of time 'cliff diving'....and by a lot of time, I mean hours....literally. I am considering putting a big pile of sand in my backyard.

This is my new favorite series of photos of Georgia...there are more, but these ones are the best, I think...love that green dress Mona!

Jack and his cliff diving...

And, Bob...loving the surf ;) He's such a sweetie. He felt so bad about leaving behind one of my cards, he bought me an 8gig card...yay! I'm so spoiled...

Skipping Rocks on a Lazy Holiday Afternoon

This is how we spend a good deal of our time. Even in the winter. We go down to the river and throw rocks. I don't know why, but the kids love it. I have tonnes of pictures of them doing it. I don't think I have ever posted any of them, but felt like posting these. Mostly because my blog has been all about Jack lately and these are all about Georgia. I love her mix of girly girl and tomboyish behaviour. I'm so glad that she has an older brother to force her to take bugs apart and play street hockey, but who'll also go inside and play My Little Pony with her. Just wanted to share what I worked on today.

Georgia...messy hair, messy face...just plain Georgia.

I Have A Problem

Jack started kindergarten today. No, that is not my problem. In fact, it is a good thing. I know that I have been hearing all about how sad people are to see their kids go off to school for the first time...but, the plain truth of the matter is, I'm not. Don't get me wrong...I love L-O-V-E love him, but he L-O-V-E-S loves to be with his friends--and, well, any other kids for that matter. So, I'm happy for him that he is going to be doing what he loves all day. And, I'm happy for me. Happy because having just one seems so manageable now. Happy because he is also only going two or three full days a week, so on the other days we can still do the things we love to do together. Happy because Georgia can do some girl things now instead of always playing trucks and ninja turtles.

My problem is this...I am a crazy photographer mom. I not only have my two kids in tow today, but my full on camera bag with all my lenses and my mental list of all the shots I want to get. I took tonnes. Jack got fed up--as he always does(you'll see what we have come to call his Calvin impression in the lot). And, it all went so quickly, my mental list flew out of my head(along with my grocery list--if you find it let me know). So, these are what I got. My big boy with his big boy backpack bounding down the sidewalk to the ELEMENTARY school! Could anyone be happier than him?

And, for all you fans of the boy and his tiger, here is Jack's full on Calvin impression:

Finally, a nice shot...so it is off to school.

These last two pictures are of the sad little boy who had to go home when first day was done. See, no need for me to be sad, he's going to be just fine. And, I might actually get supper made a couple of times a week!

Fish Creek, Ice Cream and Red Cheeks

Sometimes I have to slow down and remember to get some 'posed' photos of my own kids. Mostly the shots of them are 'snapshots' which I love, but I want some beautiful shots of them as well. Part of the problem is when I attempt it by myself, it is sooooo difficult without a second adult with me. So, this weekend, Bob and I headed to Fish Creek in the full sun of the afternoon to play with my new reflector. I have to say that I love the color results in full sun...but the red cheeks kind of put a damper on it...we had to take a dip in the creek and then go for Ice Cream at Annie's(our favorite place). They had run out of all flavors except Orange Sherbert. Man is that stuff sweet!
